The Consortium is seeking experts to join its Diagnostics Scientific Committee to work together to the achievement of IRDiRC Goal 1 for 2027

All patients coming to medical attention with a suspected rare disease will be diagnosed within one year if their disorder is known in the medical literature; all currently undiagnosable individuals will enter a globally coordinated diagnostic and research pipeline.

IRDiRC Goal 1

Please see below for the full description of the expert profiles and the application procedure.

Nomination Call: Diagnostic Scientific Committee (DSC)

IRDiRC has three Scientific Committees, one each for Diagnostics, Therapies, and Interdisciplinary aspects of rare diseases research.

The Scientific Committees identify scientific issues common to many or all members that limit the achievement of IRDiRC goals. Among its roles, the IRDiRC DSC identifies bottlenecks to rare disease gene discovery, addresses challenges and roadblocks in diagnosis. Furthermore, IRDiRC DSC collaborates with international partners to develop tools as well as resources to facilitate genomic data discovery, analyses, and sharing.

It is a priority to have a vibrant and representative Committee, as such the IRDiRC DSC is seeking to recruit new members who are:

  • Clinicians
  • Experts in genetics and genomics
  • Bioinformaticians
  • Experts in molecular diagnostics
  • Biochemists

After the close of this call, one candidate will be selected while two more will be chosen during the last quarter of the year (2020).

How should I apply?

If you are interested in taking part in the IRDiRC DSC, please send a short biography, a CV, and letter of motivation to the Scientific Secretariat at scientificsupport@irdirc.org before July 10th 2020.

We look forward to working with you!
