Horizon Magazine publishes interview with IRDiRC leadership

On February 7th 2022, Horizon Magazine, issued by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, published an interview with past and present IRDiRC leadership. In view of Rare Disease Day on February 28th, the magazine has dedicated its Monthly Focus to developments in rare disease research and innovation in Europe and beyond, with a particular focus on the work of IRDiRC.

The article features wide-ranging comments from Dr. Lucia Monaco, outgoing IRDiRC Consortium Assembly Chair, and Dr. David Pearce, the newly elected IRDiRC Consortium Assembly Chair (2022–2024).

Through her comments, Dr. Monaco provides a succinct overview of IRDiRC’s major accomplishments to date, while Dr. Pearce concentrates on its future potential. Referring to the global potential of IRDiRC, Dr. Pearce is quoted: “We need to make IRDiRC truly more global, because we need the different viewpoints and research…I believe this organisation and this current membership have the ability to influence, and as we grow the membership, we will be able to influence more.
