The Rare Care Centre (Perth, Western Australia), in collaboration with Syneos Health Communications, has launched a powerful new animation and e-learning resource designed to help educators better support students living with rare diseases.
While each rare disease may affect few, collectively they impact over 300 million people globally — with more than 70% beginning in childhood. That means every teacher, at some point, will teach a child with a rare disease. Inspired by a student’s heartfelt letter, this project highlights the urgent need for awareness in classrooms where information about rare conditions is often lacking. Through art, music, and lived experience, the animation captures the emotional and practical realities students face — aiming to foster empathy, understanding, and more inclusive school environments.
