A stronger, more coordinated Europe for people living with rare diseases

On 15 October, EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe launched “A European Blueprint for Rare Diseases”, setting out the rare disease community’s proposals for the priorities and implementation of a future EU Action Plan on Rare Diseases.

The Blueprint presents a shared vision for a more coordinated European approach, addressing existing gaps and promoting:

  • More equitable access to diagnosis, care and expertise across Europe
  • Stronger European coordination and collaboration
  • A more consistent response to the challenges faced by people living with rare diseases and their families

EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe is calling on the European Commission to propose an EU Action Plan on Rare Diseases, using the Blueprint as the rare disease community’s contribution to shaping its priorities and delivery.

A coordinated European effort is essential to help ensure that where someone lives does not determine their access to the care, knowledge and support they need.
