IRDiRC Interdisciplinary Scientific Committee (ISC) – Call for New Experts

IRDiRC has four Scientific Committees, covering Diagnostics, Therapies, Interdisciplinary, and Regulatory aspects of rare disease research.

The Interdisciplinary Scientific Committee (ISC) is a multi-stakeholder, multidisciplinary group of experts working on cross-cutting aspects of rare disease research including data sharing, ontologies, natural history, biobanking, registries, economics and health and social sciences.

As such, we are looking for rare disease experts with a combination of the following qualities:

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Proven track record of interest, experience and previous work in the field of rare disease, or with expertise that is directly transferrable to rare disease.
  • Experience and expertise in (1) rare disease policy and public affairs/government/human rights or (2) education and capacity building
  • Strong understanding of regional and global rare diseases landscape
  • Commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary, and international working, with the ability to engage constructively across sectors and cultures
  • Availability and preparedness to actively participate and contribute to the work of the ISC. This includes monthly teleconferences, an annual in-person meeting, and ongoing committee activities requiring proactive remote participation.

Commitment and expectations

Membership of the ISC is a voluntary role within an active and collaborative international group.

Members are expected to:

  • Participate in monthly online meetings, including preparation, and contribute to ongoing committee activities and outputs.
  •  Attend one annual in-person meeting.
