Regulatory Scientific Committee
The International Rare Diseases Research Consortium’s (IRDiRC) Regulatory Scientific Committee (RSC) has three openings for new members.

IRDiRC has four Scientific Committees, covering Diagnostics, Therapies, Interdisciplinary, and Regulatory aspects of rare disease research. The Regulatory Scientific Committee (RSC) is a multi-stakeholder, multidisciplinary group of experts spanning medical and regulatory science involved in rare disease research and development. The RSC is dedicated to improving the lives of people living with rare diseases by advancing regulatory science through enhanced development, communication, and transparency, contributing to IRDiRC’s Goal 2: approval of 1,000 new therapies for rare diseases, the majority targeting conditions with no approved treatment options (doi: 10.1016/j.drudis.2025.104529).
As such, we are looking for rare disease experts with a combination of the following qualities:
- Proven track record of interest, experience and previous work in the field of rare diseases.
- Experience and expertise in regulatory science, including drugs, biological products and medical devices, in particular knowledge on the entire development to meet the relevant regulatory requirements in one or more jurisdictions.
- Strong understanding of regional and global regulatory landscapes, including experience working across jurisdictions; Candidates with experience from regions currently underrepresented in the RSC (South America, Africa, Asia) are encouraged to apply.
- Professional experience in industry (including trade associations), regulatory agencies, academia, or patient advocacy organisations. Preference is given to candidates with current or former regulatory agency experience, or direct connections to regulatory agencies.
- Commitment to collaborative, multidisciplinary, and international working, with the ability to engage constructively across sectors and cultures
- Proven record of research experience as supported by regulatory and/or scientific publications
- Availability and preparedness to actively participate and contribute to the work of the RSC. This includes monthly teleconferences, an annual in-person meeting, and ongoing committee activities requiring proactive remote participation.
